Suggested Itinerary
This
is just suggested itinerary for your visit to Gunnison. There are a
variety of ways to put them together, and by no means are theses the
only possibilities. There is so much to do when you visit, we decided
to put together something to help you plan your stay. Please check with
office personnel for availability and more detailed direction for the
following:
3day Stay
- Day 1 (Crested Butte)

Breakfast at the "W café"
Enjoy unique shopping in the mountain town of Crested Butte
Lunch at one of the many fine eateries in downtown C.B.
Ride the lift at Mount Crested Butte for incredible mountain views
Take a casual walk around Peanut Lake in C.B.
Dinner at the Palisades in Gunny, libations if desired
Take in a show at the Gunnison Arts Center
or
bowling at the Coachlight lounge
- Day 2 (Lake City)
Breakfast at "W Café"
Trip to Lake City for shopping and sightseeing
Lunch at Poker Alice's in Lake City, or another of their great restaurants
Visit the Alfred Packer Massacre Site
Visit Lake San Cristobel, Colorado's largest natural lake
Dinner at the Gunnisack, Gunnison's Cowboy Bistro, libations if desired
Take a relaxing stroll down Neversink, a 2 minute drive from our park
- Day 3 (Cumberland Pass, 4WD recommended, but not required)
Breakfast Buffet Style at Taylor Park
View Taylor Reservoir
Lunch at Tin Cup via Cumberland Pass
Off to Pitkin for possible bear sightings
Down through Ohio City, Parlin, and back to Gunny
Shop Main Street Gunny for unique gifts and souvenirs
Dinner at Mario's
Week Long Stay
Day 1,2, & 3 as above, then:
- Day 4 (Curecanti/Morrow Point)
Breakfast at your rig
To Pine Creek at Curecanti for boat tour
Boat Tour of Morrow Point at the edge of the Black Canyon
(Pack a lunch) tours run 2 times daily except Tuesdays
Explore Curecanti National Recreation area, various hiking trails, fishing
Dinner at Double Dragon
- Day 5 (Golfing/Rafting)
Breakfast at "W Café" (Sunday Brunch at Gunnisack if on Sunday)
Raft trip down Taylor River or Gunnison River, various skill level available
OR
Golf Dos Rios 1 1/2 miles East of Mesa R.V. Resort, or Crested Butte Country Club
Dinner at Josef's, libations if desired
- Day 6 (Scenic Drive)

Breakfast in Crested Butte
Kebler Pass via Ohio Creek, beautiful drive, wildflowers
Sack lunch somewhere on the pass
Visit the cemetery at the top dating back to mid 1800's
Dinner at the Trough, libations if desired
- Day 7 (Scenic Black Canyon)
Breakfast at your rig
Drive the Black Canyon of the Gunnison, and explore it's unlimited hiking
and sightseeing possibilities.(There is a great book available in the office that covers the canyon)
Dinner at Pie Zan's
Other recommendations for day trips and if you'd like to extend your visit(highly recommended)
- Drive over Slumgullion Pass to Creede for some of the prettiest wildflower views
- Horseback ride to the Castles in Ohio Creek Valley
- Visit Hartman Rocks Recreation Area via foot, horse, or mountain bike
- Drive to Marble Quarry(white marble that made the Lincoln Memorial), and see Emerald Lake, Jeep tour to Crystal Mill
• 4WD the Alpine Loop and visit Las Animas Forks, a ghost town known as the best preserved in the west
and, of course, FISH, FISH, FISH!!!!!
